Weathervane Playhouse in Newark, Ohio is on a search for its next Managing Artistic Director. Adam Karsten has resigned from the position effective December 30, 2016, in order to focus his attention on a new theatre venture in New York. Everyone at Weathervane wishes Adam the absolute best as he pursues new and exciting opportunities.

Adam joined Weathervane in 2012 during a difficult time in the intrepid theatre’s history, and showed extraordinary courage, vision and leadership during his tenure. His first season with the Playhouse was rather eventful, thanks to the Derecho that caused massive wind and storm damage in Central Ohio. Power outages at the theatre led to performances of the immensely popular "Singin’ in the Rain" to be rescheduled, and Adam’s leadership was crucial to making sure the show went on.

In his five years as Managing Artistic Director, Adam pushed Weathervane to grow professionally and artistically. He helped accomplish the vision of his predecessor, and Adam’s collaboration with the Board of Directors helped open the Matthew Trombetta Artistic Wing at Weathervane in 2016.

Adam’s passion for live theatre was clearly evident in his interactions with patrons and audience, with Board members, and with various cast and crew members over these past few years. His leadership, creativity, passion and vision will certainly be missed. The Board of Directors of Weathervane would like to extent heart-felt thanks and best-wishes to Adam, Karen, and their children. They will always be a part of the Weathervane family.

A recently renovated theatre complex and artistic wing with rehearsal space and costume storage has allowed for an extended season, including the additions of Fall and Winter productions.
