The Ghost Light Virtual Gala
Over the 52 years Weathervane Playhouse has been in existence we have been blessed with supportive and devoted fans, donors, supporters and patrons. Through past tragedies and successes our community has come together to help us survive, repair, heal, build, rebuild, expand and grow. None of our successes and achievements would have happened without the work of volunteers, the financial contribution of donors, the audience members who return show after show and year after year, the parents who have spent countless hours driving their children to and from the theater for classes and performances, the artists who have lent us their talents, the advertisers and sponsors who have entrusted us to promote their businesses to our patrons. None of this would be possible without YOU! Our appreciation for all you have done is beyond measure. THANK YOU!
It is no secret that this year has hit everyone – especially the arts – extremely hard. Our 2020 season was poised to be our best season ever. The excitement surrounding our planned performances was palpable. It all came to a screeching halt in March. At this point in time, we are still unable to open our doors due to state mandate. We do not know when – and how – we will be allowed to reopen our doors, light the lights, don costumes, cue the music and perform in front of a live audience.
However, this hasn’t slowed us down or discouraged us from gathering us all together. We’re just doing it a little differently This time, we will do it virtually as we invite you all to join us for our first ever Ghost Light Virtual Gala fundraising event.
The Details:
Date: Thursday, October 15, 2020
Location: We’ll be on our website, Facebook, YouTube and Instagram. You can be wherever you want (except the theater) – like home on your couch or sitting in a park. You can even be out of state or on an island somewhere! That’s the magic of the internet.
Time:
6:30PM: We have tax-deductible tickets available for our special virtual “The Granville Investment Group, LLC Cocktail Hour”.
7:30PM: The Ghost Light Gala, which is free to the public..
8:00PM: A marathon of additional entertainment begins, and lasts as long as we are raising funds. It’s like a telethon, but all online and without B-list celebrities answering phones. For every $10,000 we raise, we will provide 8 hours of entertainment. If we reach our goal of $50,000, that equals FORTY HOURS of entertainment in the form of performances, videos, memories, photos, slideshow, interviews and more!
Dress: Anywhere between pajamas and Black-Tie formal. Wear whatever you choose. You could even have a costume or theme party if you want.
How does a “virtual gala” work?
It’s like an in-person Gala, but you don’t have to go anywhere. You don’t have to buy a fancy dress or rent a tux. You don’t need to walk around a room in uncomfortable shoes, or eat yet another dry chicken dinner. That’s what makes this Gala so special. You get to eat, wear and do whatever you want. There will be a host and entertainment, with all performances live-streamed online. What is live-streaming? Think of it like this: we will have video cameras aimed at performers from all over, and we’re sending that entertainment straight to your computer, tablet, phone and smart TV. You’ll be able to watch on our website, on YouTube and on Facebook – whichever you choose. You can even send us messages and photos while the Gala is happening. We would love to see your beautiful faces! There may even be a sing-along or two so you can join in. While we will be live-streaming, all content will also be saved and available for viewing during the entire weekend.
This sounds like fun! How do I purchase tickets?
The Ghost Light Virtual Gala is FREE!!! We recommend you register for a free ticket by CLICKING HERE. This ensures you get all of the details, plus a reminder with links on the day of the gala. But you can also come here to our website, or visit our YouTube channel and / or Facebook page on October 15 to join in.
Free? I thought this was a fundraiser! How can I support Weathervane and keep the entertainment going?
In addition to free tickets, we also have tax-deductible ticket packages you can purchase by CLICKING HERE. These tax-deducible packages give you access to our pre-Gala “The Granville Investment Group, LLC. Cocktail Hour” hosted by our very own Ryan Metzger featuring exclusive entertainment by Kevin Wines and Cheridy Keller and access to special auction items.
We will also sell raffle tickets throughout the event for items such as specialty gift baskets; feature an online auction with some great items you can bid on (such as vacation packages, specialty bourbon selections, exclusive Weathervane experiences, and so much more!) ; host an online merchandise store where you can purchase T-shirts, sweatshirts, etc. ; and you will be able to purchase Weathervane Playhouse gift cards. Of course we will also accept donations. By not having an in-person Gala, there are no babysitters to hire, no tuxedos to rent nor dresses to buy. We ask for you to kindly consider donating a portion or all of the money you would have spent going to an in-person Gala to Weathervane Playhouse. We also save on expenses by not having to hire a caterer, rent tables, or perhaps a larger venue space. 100% of the money raised will go directly towards Weathervane Playhouse and what we do best: live theatre and theatre education. When we’re once again allowed to do so.
