Weathervane Playhouse March 2021 Update

To Our Weathervane Family,

It is with great disappointment that the Weathervane Board of Directors announces that while we are planning and hope to reopen in 2021, our Summer Season will not begin in June as it normally does, given the current COVID-19 restrictions. Live performances face specific challenges keeping artists, crews, theatre workers, and audience members safe in close quarters. And we are still operating under government orders restricting our audience capacity to just 25% of the house, which is 75 seats for each performance. Additionally, we have recently been notified that housing on the Newark Campus of The Ohio State University for cast and crew members will be unavailable this summer due to the pandemic. Hopefully as more vaccines are distributed, restrictions will be eased and allow us to reopen, although at a time and in a manner that is different from our usual season.

While we have suffered a negative economic impact over the last year, we can’t thank each of you enough for your support and generosity. In addition, through COVID-19 relief assistance from foundations and government entities, as well as strict cost-saving measures, we have weathered the worst of this storm. We anticipate a reduction in the number of shows we will produce this year and have plans for ticket options for Season Subscribers, who carried their tickets forward a year, to accommodate a reduction in shows.

Your understanding of these unusual circumstances is appreciated as restrictions hopefully lessen, and we further refine our reopening plans. We will be posting updates via our website and social media. Should you have any questions, please email us at boxoffice@weathervaneplayhouse.org.
