Weathervane Film Festival
Join us for our first ever film festival! Modeled after other two week festivals, you'll be asked to create a short film quickly and with specific guidelines.
We have multiple categories you can compete and lots of ways you can win. Read below for more information before signing up.
Important Dates
Kick off Feb 20
Films due March 6
Showcase March 13 (potential reshowing on March 14)
Kick Off
- Used to explain rules
- Gather any fees not already paid
- Virtual zoom meeting
- Runs about 30 minutes
Showcase
- Shows top winners in each category and special prizes
- Winners recognized
- Awards given
- Runs about 1.5-2 hours
Rules
Film must be original to the festival (can be entered elsewhere after entered at WVPFF)
Must feature Weathervane Playhouse, a rooster, or a theatre is some capacity (at least 5 seconds screentime)
Must be shot, edited, and submitted within 2 weeks
Must run less than 8 minutes
Do not need to be in attendance to win
Silent films are allowed with a strong narrative arc, music videos are not allowed
Must be rated G, PG, or PG-13
Adult language or overt sexuality not allowed (no f-bombs or nudity)
