With that in mind, they bring us the crazy story of Farce of Nature to be performed at Weathervane Playhouse, which will no doubt put a smile on your face.
Farce of Nature…
How can one day at a family-owned fishing lodge, called Reel ‘Em Inn, out in Arkansas spiral out of control? The characters and their secrets and lies will tell you. Characters chase each other around for answers and arguments as they disguise themselves and make up stories, getting each other further in trouble.
Wanelle and her husband, D. Gene, start the day off with their banter of misunderstandings. Wanelle needs attention in their lackluster romantic life, and D. Gene is secretly trying to keep the business afloat. Making this ball of fire convinced her husband is cheating on her.
Quickly, we learn that Maxine, D. Gene’s sister, is protecting their one guest in the witness protection program, in hopes of landing a police officer role permanently despite her old age. This determined no-nonsense country woman seems to only bring bad luck and forgetfulness wherever she goes. Making the task to protect Carmine de Luca from a Chicago gangster he put in jail, a difficult one.
Carmine de Luca is a jittery, nervous wise guy who mocks Maxine’s ability to protect him, and unfortunately for him, he hates nature. While Carmine and Maxine go back and forth, more characters are introduced into the Wilburn family drama, who bring particularly unwanted guests to the lodge.
Including the sexy, Lola, born and raised in Chicago, who follows the owner’s son, Ty, back to the Inn. Something Ty’s girlfriend, Jenna, is not so happy about.
As they chase down what is really going on in their relationships, they also search for the cause of an awful smell outside and why such an ugly painting would possibly be hung in the lobby?
When D. Gene’s money-making plan shows up, things don’t go as planned. In the chaos that ensues at the Reel ‘Em Inn, their lives all change in surprising ways.
What to Expect

Through comedic jokes and poor misunderstandings, the cast of this play brings to you a good time of laughter and chaos as they chase each other across the stage, hide from others, and hilariously disguise themselves.
Their endless secrecy and mistrust cause the whole day to snowball until they finally reach the final climax…the source of the smell, and the woman Gene brought to help save the lodge.
Packed with constant action and drama, Weathervane creatively sets up the scenes and captures the many different personalities of each character to fully immerse you in the happenings at the fishing lodge.
