Matthew Trombetta Artistic Wing

HONORING MATTHEW’S VISION

Weathervane lost its dear friend and Managing Artistic Director on June 13, 2010, when Matthew Trombetta was killed in a tragic car accident. After losing him, it took valiant effort, but we worked together and completed our wildly successful 2010 season in his honor.

Many of you have asked about memorial giving opportunities. Weathervane’s Board of Directors wants to complete Matthew’s shared vision for the theater by creating a fund to establish the Matthew Trombetta Artistic Wing. We have established a fund to help with the realization of one more piece of the Weathervane dream. Matthew’s mother, Sandy Bowler, and Kaye Murphy graciously serve as the honorary co-chairs for this fund.

Construction on the Matthew Trombetta Artistic Wing began in Fall 2015. This new building will house air conditioned and expanded dressing rooms, a costume shop, costume storage, and much more – things that were always needed for our performers and designers. The building is expected to be completed Spring 2016.

If you met him, you knew that Matthew was an undeterred force for positive change. If he were here with us, he would be rattling cages and banging on drums—perhaps literally!—to complete our vision. At Weathervane, we are committed to moving forward to make our theatre the kind of facility that draws the best talent our country has to offer, both on and off the stage.

We all have our own ways of remembering Matthew—with a song or a smile, with a funny line, or a quiet moment. Our fond memories and the influence he had on everyone at Weathervane have been a comfort and help to keep his energetic spirit alive in the theater he loved so well.
