2015 Winter Show

Weathervane Playhouse cancels the 2015 Winter Show in anticipation of the completed Matthew Trombetta Artistic Wing

On August 8, 2015, ground was broken for the construction of the Matthew Trombetta Artistic Wing. It was anticipated that the new structure would be near completion for the winter show production of CHESS in December. Within the construction process, major exterior components of the current facility are required to be removed, exposing the main-stage to the winter elements. It was expected that the construction project would be far enough along to rebuild the removed wall and produce the winter show; however, a three-month delay in the acquisition of needed steel beams will prevent that from happening as planned. As a result of this unforeseeable complication, the Weathervane Playhouse Board of Directors has taken action to cancel the 2015 Winter Show. Bob Hite, President of the Board of Directors, stated, “It is with genuine regret that such action needed to be taken, but it is not possible to produce our winter production at the quality and level our audiences deserve and expect; however, rest assured that conditions will be such that Summer Magic! 2016 and a 2016 winter show will go on as scheduled.”

“Weathervane prides itself in producing quality theatre for its patrons and community and has an obligation to uphold this to the highest regard,” said Managing Artistic Director, Adam Karsten.  “We know many people will be disappointed that we won’t have a Winter Show, but we also know they understand that the expansion of the Playhouse assures even more programming to be available to them in the future.” Plans call for the Artistic Wing to provide the Playhouse with larger dressing rooms, a costume construction shop, rehearsal space, classrooms for children’s programming, a larger space for pit musicians to perform during shows, and a climate-controlled basement, giving the playhouse the opportunity to store its costume collection on site.

The Weathervane Board of Directors and Staff thank patrons and the community for their understanding and ongoing support. See you at the Playhouse in June!
